Search Committee Update 8/24/2021

On August 24, 2021, the Pastor Search Committee met from 4:00 to 6:45 pm at Emmanuel. All members of the committee were present for the meeting. The purpose was to meet with our representative from Vanderbloemen, Brian Dunks, for a “Presentation of Candidates”. The meeting began with prayer led by Carol Williams. Brian Dunks, consultant from Vanderbloemen, noted that a total of 43 applications were received for the Lead Pastor position at Emmanuel. Based on criteria identified through the Congregational Survey and Launch Meeting, along with phone interviews conducted by Vanderbloemen, nine potential candidates were identified. Following a face-to-face interview, the applicant pool was narrowed down to six candidates. Vanderbloemen will continue accepting and initially screening applications until the process of hiring a lead pastor is complete. Candidate Criteria included:

5-10 years ministry experience

Undergraduate degree required; seminary preferred

Lead Pastor work experience preferred

Theologically and doctrinally aligned with Emmanuel Enid

Strong Communicator

Visionary/Strategic thinker

Relational and Approachable

Humble and Authentic

Pastoral and Caring

Collaborative in nature

Meaningful change agent

Generational bridge agent

Prayerful

Evangelistic

Supportive wife and family to the ministry

The presentation included viewing a 5-minute video, copy of resume, links to online sermons and a personality profile from each candidate. The PSC has scheduled Initial Interview Zoom meetings with the six candidates. For confidentially purposes, we will not be revealing the names of the candidates or the churches where they are currently serving; it is our desire to respect their current employment, and not to jeopardize this in any way.

At one of the initial meetings of the PSC, we established a timeline for honoring the 30th Anniversary of Wade, and God has allowed us thus far to remain in step with this goal. We will be submitting another update following the zoom interviews.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Williams
